Meet the Farmers
We are Ellen and Sophie; sisters, farmers, and flower lovers! Agriculture and farming has always been a passion of ours. Living on a dairy farm our whole lives allowed us to get our hands dirty and learn how things grow. As we both grew up, farming has remained one of our passions and we've developed a special appreciation for flowers.
In the spring of 2021, we decided to expand our cut flower garden and attempt to sell some of our bouquets at the bottom of our driveway in the bus stop we used as kids. We called it "The Posy Shed". We were blown away with the demand for local flowers and the support of our community. With only a small garden, we managed to produce countless stems for our customers that were used for various events, weddings and enjoyed on many dining room tables.
As our first growing year concluded, we decided to expand our flower business and create Sharp Brook Flower Farm. Named after the brook that flows through our family farm. We're looking forward to another flower season with the hopes of learning and bringing more local blooms to our community!

"I'm a mom, wife, Nusery grower, and now flower farmer and I couldn't be anymore excited to be taking this adventure on with my little sister, Sophie! I currently work fulltime at a local tree nursery as a grower and graduated from Dalhousie University with a degree in Agriculture majoring in Plant Science. My passion has always been agriculture and it is so special to be able to work the ground our family has survived off of for 7 generations."

"Hi all!
My name is Sophie and I am the other half of Sharp Brook Flower Farm. I am 24 years old and love hiking, music and photography. I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Education which has me excited to begin a career in teaching. Along with my love of teaching, I find so much happiness in gardening and seeing the joy a bouquet of flowers can bring to others. My passion for growing flowers started with my university summer job at a bedding plant nursery. I was fascinated with the varieties and colors of flowers, and how much flowers meant to people. By starting this flower farm with my older sister, we have the unique opportunity to share our love of flowers with our amazing community.
